Roza-Restart Update

Roza Water Users-

  • The re-start is progressing. There have been a few delays due to windblown debris, algae and a car wreck in the Main Canal yesterday near Outlook. The weeds are flushed down a wasteway, which is taking a bit longer than usual.
  • Due to these issues Pump 10 and possibly Pump 9A will not be up and running today, but will be on tomorrow morning. We still expect to have water to everyone by the end of the day on Wednesday.
  • Make sure to order your water for the day that water is scheduled to be available at your delivery or later (not on a date before delivery is scheduled). Water orders need to be submitted by midnight the day prior to delivery. You can do so online at any time. You can also order water by phone (509) 837-2223.
  • When a water order is unfulfilled Roza’s water ordering software automatically voids the order. The software does not anticipate instances when water is not available. Common examples of water not being available include:
  • Drought year shutdowns;
  • Canal breaks or a pump lateral pumping station failure (most often lightning caused);
  • A Ditchrider missed the order. This happens infrequently and it usually occurs when a relief ditchrider is covering a beat for another ditchrider.
  • Water is ordered for a date prior to being it available for delivery during start-up (or a during a re-start).

We are examined re-programming this aspect, but it is not a quick task. Roza’s water ordering software is an off the shelf product created for irrigations districts in other states. Most of it is directly applicable to Roza but there are some aspects unique to our system and operations.

  • Water users in the Terrace Heights Irrigation District (THID) do not need to order water because their system is not constructed to operate in the same manners that Roza’s system is. Roza has operated the THID since 1940 under a contract between THID, Roza & USBR. THID water cannot be delivered when the Roza Main Canal is off.  THID diversions are measured and tracked at the District level rather than the delivery point. THID accounts are not in Roza’s water ordering database.
  • When you order water click “gpm” on the menu. Below is a table which explains the conversion to points:
